Why polarized lenses?

You might have already noticed that all our sunglasses have polarized lenses. But what does that actually mean?

Polarized sunglasses

Polarized, or anti-glare lenses significantly reduce light glare and eyestrain. This is especially important when working or spending time outside, and becoming even temporarily blinded by reflected light or glare could put you in a potentially dangerous situation. Luckily for you, all our styles come equipped with the highest quality lenses possible.

To get a bit more technical for those interested, our lenses are made from triacetate cellulose – or TAC for short. These TAC lenses are made up of 7 layers all serving a specific purpose.

  • The first is a polarizing layer that provides more than 100% polarization absorbing glare
  • The second and third layer help with durability and resistance to harsh environments
  • The fourth and fifth layers absorb ultraviolet rays, protecting you from UVA and UVB rays
  • The last two layers, are shock proof layers that increase impact and scratch resistance

The best TAC lenses block more than 99% of harmful UV rays with wavelengths up to 400 nanometers - just like ours!
